ONE HOUR CRUISE OF GREENPORT

Reach this charming village by car, bus, or train from Manhattan (about 2 1/2 hrs.), then, walk along the boardwalk into town (about 5 minutes).  You'll pass the East End Seaport Museum with its fine collection of model boats and two grand Fresnel lens.  Continue farther and take a ride on the Carousel, or view the harbor through the Camera Obscura,  one of two such devices in the U.S. 

Have lunch at one of Greenport's many small restaurants, then walk to Preston's Dock to meet Capt. Dave and board his solar-powered electric launch, Glory, for a cruise around Greenport Harbor and Peconic Bay.  Later, browse through Greenport's shops, book stores, and galleries.
