Description

This is an older stein based on the discoloration of the pewter lid. Often the pewter was melted down during the war, which accounts for a large majority of steins being without their original lids. This lid is slightly loose and there appears to have been a small decorative piece in the center of the lid at one time that is missing.  Germany is stamped on the bottom of the stein. The stein is cream with black backgrounds and muted shades of green and pink on the designs. The side panels have German sayings. The center panel shows a King holding a goblet as he straddles a barrel. The barrel has the following stamped on it: Aschenbroedel, New Haven, Conn.

Handle is slightly rough on the edges, probably from use over the years. There is a small crack along the top rim. It looks like someone attempted to repair it failed to remove some of the patching material.

Besides the items noted above, the stein is in good condition. It stands 6 1/2" tall, opening at top is 2 3/4", and base is 3 1/2".
